Concrete is often chosen for its strength, durability and ability to create seamless surfaces. Increasingly, however, architects and designers are also using it as a key design feature, selecting colours and finishes that complement both the building and its surrounding landscape.
Allied Concrete’s FormaColoured range has been developed to make the design process easier, providing a curated collection of coloured concrete options for residential and commercial projects. The range has been created for architects, architectural designers, landscape architects, interior designers, builders and specifiers seeking a simpler, more confident way to specify decorative concrete.
Suitable for driveways, pathways, patios, pool surrounds and internal polished floors, the range offers an alternative to standard grey concrete and other paving materials where a continuous, durable architectural finish is preferred.
The collection includes 14 colours inspired by New Zealand’s natural landscapes, with more than 80 additional colour options available. Manufactured using New Zealand-made, fade-resistant pigments, the colours are designed to maintain their appearance while complementing a wide variety of architectural styles and landscape settings.
FormaColoured can also be paired with a range of surface finishes, including exposed aggregate, polished and honed concrete, allowing designers to tailor both the texture and appearance of the finished surface to suit the project.
To support more confident specification, Allied Concrete offers up to three complimentary FormaColoured sample packs, available through DesignHub. Architects, landscape designers and builders can compare colours alongside
DesignHub was created specifically to simplify decorative concrete specification. Alongside complimentary samples, it provides project inspiration, technical guidance and specification support, helping designers confidently bring concepts from the drawing board to construction.
Like all concrete, the finished appearance of FormaColoured is influenced by factors such as finishing techniques, sealers and site conditions. Rather than being a flaw, this natural variation contributes to the character of each installation. Allied Concrete also recommends sealing coloured concrete to enhance the finish while helping protect the surface over time.
FormaColoured is manufactured and supplied by Allied Concrete throughout New Zealand, using colours developed in partnership with PeterFell. Two premium colours, Southern Alps and Punakaiki, sit within the standard collection, with Southern Alps requiring approximately two weeks production lead time.
As decorative concrete continues to evolve beyond its traditional role as a purely functional building material, products that combine long-term durability with greater design flexibility are giving specifiers more opportunities to integrate hard landscaping with the overall architectural vision of a project.
